For the nineteenth straight year, Dunstan Street in South Bunbury is set to come to life with Christmas lanterns lining the verges.
Every year the Bunbury residents put candles inside milk cartons and place them in their front yards from December 22 to 24.
They then invite their friends and family members around for parties while visitors from across the South West travel up and down the street enjoying the spectacle.
Dunstan Street resident Liz Francis said the Christmas spirit draws the community to them at a special time of the year. “It is such a lovely environment to be in and the children in particular really love it,” she said.
The tradition was the brainchild of City of Bunbury councillor and former Dunstan Street resident Sam Morris who got the idea on a trip to the United States.
With the growth in popularity over the years, the council run a traffic plan to allow the public to safely walk on one side of the street.
The free event will feature a number of bands playing live and the opportunity to donate gold coins to Rotary for future charity work.
