Former Vasse MP Bernie Masters will contest the March state election in the seat of Bunbury as a representative of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
Mr Masters, a former geological and environmental consultant, said he chose to join the party a few years ago as he liked their principals of private property rights.
“Our party wants to protect a land owners right to use their space for whatever legal use they see fit,” he said.
“The principle extends to artistic rights as well.”
Mr Masters told the Mail people should have reasonable access to firearms for farming and recreational purposes while fishing should be allowed provided its done sustainably.
He said his party were hoping they could return upper house member Nigel Hallett to his South West seat.
