The brother of a Padbury man fighting for his life in hospital after trying to breakup a fight between gatecrashers and party guests said people were "jumping the fences from all four sides".
Ryan Ball remained in a critical condition in Royal Perth Hospital on Monday morning in an induced coma after he was assaulted early Sunday morning outside his Vernon Place house.
Police alleged the 38-year-old was forced to shut-down a school ball after-party he was hosting when around 15 people jumped his property's fences and entered the party without permission.
Mr Ball was then critically injured when he went out to the street to try and break up an altercation.
"About 1am an occupant of the house has attempted to break up a fight and to move people on when he was assaulted, causing him to lose consciousness and fall on the road," a police spokesman said.
His brother, Leon Ball told Radio 6PR on Monday he was suffering bleeding on the brain, a broken eye socket, broken cheek bone and broken nose.
"The swelling is quite horrific," he said.
"Yesterday they tried to bring him out of the induced coma and he fought it, so they basically put him back and sedated him again.
"To be incapacitated in that sense is terrible to watch... it's something that just shouldn't happen."
Leon said Ryan was a gentle giant who had lived on the Padbury street since he was a child.
He knew the neighbours well and had left notes in their letterboxes to let them know of the party.
He had also contacted police beforehand as a courtesy to inform them he expected around 100 guests, whose names had been written on a door-list.
