Capturing an image that showcases Bunbury’s culture could win you a trip to Tokyo as part of a biennial competition that fosters friendship between Bunbury and our Sister City, Setagaya in Japan.
The Cultural Exchange Photo Contest is run by the City of Bunbury’s Sister and Friendship Cities group, along with the Bunbury Multicultural Group.
The winning photos are sent to Setagaya for display in the Setagaya Art Museum and in return, Setagaya sends the winning photos of their competition for display at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.
Three categories are available, including open, youth (aged 10 to 25) and digital explorers (aged 55 and over) with the aim to snap a photo of a person or persons in Bunbury showcasing their culture.
Entrants should also tell us their story in 100 words or less with photos to be uploaded via the Bunbury Sister and Friendship Cities Facebook page.
The grand prize includes two return tickets to Tokyo, three nights’ accommodation in Setagaya, a photography workshop in Japan plus a Tokyo tour.
The first runner-up will receive $500 in ProMaster camera accessories from Bunbury Camera House, plus dinner for two at Tokyo Jacks, while the second runner-up will receive $250 in ProMaster camera accessories from Bunbury Camera House, Kokedama from the Green Depot and a Kokoro Japanese Restaurant gift certificate.
The competition closes on April 30 with the exhibition launch and announcement of winners on May 26 at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.
