City of Bunbury CEO Andrew Brien calls it quits after six years

Mr Brien will leave the City in late June after six years in the role.

“I have made the decision to take on a new role with a mixture of excitement and reluctance,” Mr Brien said.

“I am keen to embark on a new challenge, but at the same time I will be leaving a progressive city with a promising future.

“Bunbury has seen some significant changes in recent times and a lot of the success comes down to the dedication and hard work of our staff who have a real passion to achieve the best for the city.”

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan praised Mr Brien’s accomplishments since he was first appointed to the CEO position in 2011.

“Andrew has overseen operational change that has resulted in cost savings to the community and increased efficiencies across the city,” Mr Brennan said.

“He can leave proud of his achievements and council wishes him all the best in his new role.”

The recruitment of a new CEO will now be determined by council, who will examine all options and the timing of the appointment of a new chief executive officer.

“The City has an exceptional executive leadership team who will continue to lead by example and carry on the good work already under way,” Mr Brennan said.

Mr Brien is currently on annual leave with director of works and services Gavin Harris filling the role of acting CEO.
