Ash Grunwald is headed back to Bunbury in April as part of his 2017 national tour, Hammer.
And the Australian musician said he can’t wait to perform at the Prince of Wales hotel.
“I get down to the south west every year; it feels like my second home so I’m looking forward to the Bunbury show,” he said.
“Playing the Prince has been my stop in Bunbury a lot of times now and I really enjoy it
“I’ve had some absolute cracker shows there, people partying like there’s no tomorrow.”
The tour is a preview of Grunwald’s not-yet-released 10th studio album and will feature his new single Hammer.
“People can expect a little bit of a party, a bit of fun at my show,” he said.
“I’m a big fan of the singalong.
“I love it when my audience feel on a high, when they’ve forgotten about everything else they have to worry about in their lives for an hour and a half and they come out of the show truly happy.”
Hammer has topped community radio airplay charts and was nominated for the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) Awards for Blues and Roots Work of the Year.
Grunwald said it wasn’t an easy to road to produce the final recording of the successful hit single.
“I wrote that for an album that I did in America that still hasn’t seen the light of day,” he said.
“So I re-recorded it in Australia, but I really hope the original recording surfaces one day because it’s wicked.
Despite the knock back, the musician said he’s thankful he got an equally great single out of the experience.
“Hammer feels like a rebirth for me in some ways,” said Grunwald.
“I went in to record Hammer knowing the musical boundaries I wanted to push and the traditions I wanted to respect and tried to create something my fans would love.
“I just think people who are out there working really hard to make a living can connect with it.”
Grunwald will be at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Thursday, April 27.
