A Bunbury man who pleaded guilty to three offences before denying they ever happened was remanded to face court again next month.
Dylan Reece Dicker appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with disorderly behaviour in public, disorderly behaviour in a police station/lock-up, and fail to comply with request to provide details.
He pleaded guilty to the offences, which were committed on March 27, but disputed the facts detailed by police prosecution.
The court heard Mr Dicker became verbally abusive when he was arrested following a foot chase in Bunbury.
Asked for his personal details, Mr Dicker refused to give his name and address to officers.
He was taken to the Bunbury police station lock-up, where he continued to be verbally abusive and spat on the walls and floor.
Despite the guilty pleas, Mr Dicker said he “didn’t spit on any walls” and denied being chased by police officers and behaving in a disorderly manner.
Magistrate Mark Millington then refused to accept Mr Dicker’s pleas.
“It is my job to make sure appropriate pleas are entered,” the magistrate said.
“You told me you didn’t do those things.”
Mr Dicker tried to withdraw his denial, saying he wanted to get the matter dealt with, but he was remanded to reappear on May 4.
He was advised to seek legal advice.
