A toddler has died after being hit by a car at Badger Head, in what police are calling a tragic accident.
The three-year-old boy walked behind the car while it was being reversed by his dad at the family’s shack, police said.
A triple-zero call about 2.45pm on Sunday alerted emergency services to the incident.
The boy was taken away in an ambulance, but died on the way to the hospital.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time, and it is asked that their privacy be respected,” Tasmania Police Inspector Gary Williams said.
“Our thoughts also extend to those emergency service workers who attended this tragic accident.”
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
