Good Earth Surf to host Good Nights

The venue was most recently featured as the Festival Hub for Bunbury’s first ever Fringe Festival.

Award-winning musicians Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes have teamed up with The Weeping Willows to play three intimate Good Nights shows in WA.

The gigs are part of their massive national tour of Australia, playing a series of shows in similar small theatre-style venues around the country.

The unique show will feature a full scale band and special guests and will be filled with memoirs of life on the road, songs from each of the artist’s own catalogue as well as a collection of the classic songs that inspired both Bryan and The Weeping Willows to pursue careers as touring artists.

Laura Coates, who is one half of the duo act The Weeping Willows, said she can’t wait to jam with her friends in an intimate stage setting for Good Nights.

“We actually formed out of Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes. Andrew, the other half of us, was the guitarist and I used to sing backing vocals for The Wildes and The Weeping Willows was just a bit of a side project for us,” she laughed.

“We were singing Johnny and June covers together and then we started writing our own material and it became our main focus.

“Whenever we have the opportunity to perform with Lachlan, we just sort of invite ourselves along, so it’s lovely to be able to tour together and get the band back together again.”

Lachlan Bryan from Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes couldn’t agree more.

“This is the first time we’ve done a big tour together which is bringing back a few memories,” Bryan said.

“I did Good Nights in Bunbury last year and I really loved it. I think the people of Bunbury are really lucky to have these amazing shows that are just so different to any other show you would go to that are so intimate and comfortable.

“It’s a really different experience for the artist and I’m looking forward to bringing the guys back with me for it this time.”

The bands said audiences can expect a mix of sounds for their intimate and collaborative performance.

“We’re both country acts but infused with a bit of folk, blues and roots. Weeping Willows are the dark folk end of country and Americana and Lachlan is more the rockier singer/songwriter,” Coates said.

“As well as doing our own sets, we’ll play together but there’s always a lot of storytelling between and during the songs and there’ll be harmonies and a tonne of new songs. I’m really excited, it’s going to be great,” Bryan said.

The two talented artists will play their Bunbury Good Nights gig at the back of Good Earth Surf in the Warehouse on Saturday, May 27. Patrons are invited to bring along some comfy seats, drinks and snacks for an incredible night of music.
