A collector’s car made famous its signature gull-wing doors will be one of many rare cars put under the hammer at a Launceston auction.
The DeLorean DMC 12, made famous as a time machine in the Back to the Future movies, will be auctioned on July 22.
It is part of a collector car and classic motorcycle auction which includes other rare machines including a Ford Falcon XB John Goss Special Coupe, a Vincent Rapide motorcycle, and a rare CL Chrysler V8 Charger.
Tullochs Auctions director Jessie Reid was optimistic about the collectors’ auction.
She said another DeLorean DMC 12 was still on the market with a price tag of $55,000.
With strong buyer interest surrounding the American car ahead of the auction, Mrs Reid hoped it would fetch about $30,000.
“It does really depend on the market,” she said.
Built between 1981 and 1983, it is estimated there are about 6500 DeLorean cars still in existence.
