JMW Real Estate and Elders Southern District Estate Agency have joined forces with The Salvation Army to encourage South West locals to drop off a pair of socks to their agencies to help the homeless keep warm this winter.
REIWA Councillor Joe White, from JMW Real Estate, said winter was a particularly difficult time for the homeless in WA, and he encouraged everyone who is in a position to help to donate a pair of socks.
“A pair of socks may not seem like a luxury to many of us, but to those sleeping rough on our streets, it’s a small comfort that can make a world of difference – especially in winter,” he said.
“We’re a generous bunch down here in the South West and I hope to see our two offices overflowing with sock donations from the local community.”
Bunbury Salvation Army corps officer Lieutenant Harriet Farquhar said she was delighted to see South West real estate agents getting behind the sock drive initiative to help the homeless.
“Such a small act of kindness can make a huge difference in the lives of those less fortunate, so it’s wonderful to see our local real estate community get behind this cause,” Lieutenant Farquhar said.
Those in the area who wish to donate can drop socks off at JMW Real Estate at 238 Naturaliste Terrace, Dunsborough or Elders Southern Districts Estate Agency at 13 Stirling Street, Bunbury.
