Harrison Craig is preparing to bring a smooth touch of Vegas to Bunbury as he kicks off his Kings of Vegas – The Lounge Sessions Australian tour, and he’s using the Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School choir to help him on stage.
The primary choir, made up of 38 students between year three and year six, will join Craig to sing More Than A Dream, the song he performed for the finals on The Voice in 2013.
Craig said he’s honoured to have the accomplished bunch of students help him perform one of his hit songs.
“Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School are going to be a huge addition to the Kings of Vegas show in Bunbury,” he said.
“They're certainly a talented group of people that deliver something to be remembered.
“I cannot wait to work with Bunbury's very own.”
Students in the choir have already expressed their excitement for the feature in a huge show, as the group knuckle down to perfect their sound before July 16.
“I can't wait to sing with Harrison Craig,” one student said.
“His voice is incredible, I can't believe we're going to sing with him.”
Primary performing arts specialist and choir director Rachel Brogan said the school were thrilled to be given the opportunity to perform alongside Harrison Craig.
“It’s just fantastic for the children to see how a professional performance is put together,” she said.
“The students work hard in rehearsals and this is a splendid reward for their efforts.”
The choir currently meets every week to rehearse and leads the singing in fortnightly chapel services.
Ms Brogan said they’ve also been up to lots of other exciting performances around Bunbury recently.
“We participated in the Bunbury Eisteddfod last week, receiving a 2nd place in the Primary School Choir category,” she said.
“We also sang at St Boniface Cathedral at the Patronal Festival and the breaking of the ground for the new Community Centre, and we will be singing at the BCGS Music Gala Night next term.”
The Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School primary choir will join Harrison Craig for his Kings of Vegas tour at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Sunday, July 16.
The concert will showcase songs from Craig’s first two records, as well as performances of the hits of stars like Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr, Bing Crosby, Elton John and Michael Bublé among many more as featured on his album Kings of Vegas.
“I’m such a huge fan of the Golden Period – I was raised on the sounds of Nat King Cole, Presley and Sinatra so they rubbed off on my musical tastebuds I guess you could say,” he said.
"These guys created a style and turned it into a timeless genre, the way the songs were written, directed and orchestrated – nothing was done in a small way.”
