Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School’s bands and ensembles shined bright at the recent WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod’s closing performance night.
Groups from the school took home a number of first place prizes including the intermediate concert band, senior concert band, brass ensemble, the big band, primary strings ensemble and the flute ensemble.
The primary choir, the senior strings ensemble and the jazz ensemble all claimed second place finishes.
Acting Head of Arts Shaun Molewyk said the Eisteddfod was a fantastic opportunity for students to perform in a formal setting.
“Students have worked hard in various ensembles to reach a high standard, reflected in the six first places we received in the ensemble sections,” Mr Molewyk said.
“The students should feel proud of their accomplishments as a result of their effort.
“The Eisteddfod is one facet of our exciting Performing Arts program whereby students can excel and realise their potential in the Arts.”
In its 59th season, the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod began on Thursday, May 25 and closed on Saturday, 17 June at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
