Both the men’s and women’s South West Slammers walked away from a weekend double header with a victory over the East Perth Eagles and a narrow defeat at the hands of the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.
Brittany Hodges scored 22 points and Georgia Denehey scored 19 points in the women’s 85-69 win over East Perth.
On Saturday, the side were overrun late against Kalamunda 83-77 despite Courtney Bayliss scoring 22 points and securing eight rebounds.
Both men’s games went right down to the wire with a single basket the difference between victory and defeat.
On Friday, the Slammers took the points against East Perth 92-90 with Tre Nichols scoring 26 points. The Slammers then fell to Kalamunda 91-88 despite an impressive 30 point performance from Clive Weeden.
This Saturday, the Slammers host Rockingham at Eaton Recreation Centre.
