Bunbury Catholic College performing arts students have excelled at this year’s WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod, picking up multiple awards for both solo and ensemble performances.
The College’s concert choir, girls’ choir, Marist guitar ensemble, percussion ensemble and the jazz guitar ensemble were all awarded first place in their respective sections.
Bunbury Catholic College students were also recognised individually with a host of awards at the Gala Eisteddfod Night.
Year 12 student Claire Robinson was recognised with four solo awards; the WACE Music Award, Bunbury Catholic Diocesan Sacred Solo Award, Senior Vocal Aggregate (dual winner) and the Most Promising Voice in the South West (dual winner).
Claire is also a proud member of the winning girls’ choir and concert choir.
Bunbury Catholic College principal Denise O’Meara said the outstanding performances were a credit to the commitment, talent and work ethic of both the school’s staff and students.
“Our Eisteddfod representation exemplifies the attitudes and values synonymous with the College,” she said.
“The above results are a tribute to the outstanding work of the Performing Arts Department - Mrs Morgan, Mr Campbell, Ms Leclair, Mrs Whitney, Mr Robertson, Mr Obern and accompanist Mr Sam Caddy.”
Other individual winners from Bunbury Catholic College were Joshua Jacob, Sophie Donovan, Lily Birch, Veronica Congdon, Eloise Brown, Emmaline Barbetti, Tim Robinson and Mr Sam Caddy as best accompanist.
