Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School year 11 student Hamish Leahy is set to join the Australian team selected to compete at the Oceania Artistic Roller Skating Championships in September.
Last week Leahy won gold in compulsory dance pairs, silver in quartet and bronze in free dance pairs with his partner Kaylah Chorlton at the Australian Artistic Roller Skating Championships in Queensland.
Leahy, who has been skating for five years after being introduced to the sport at his sister’s 13th birthday party, said the competition in Brisbane was great fun.
“I am very excited to now compete in the Oceania competition and I can’t wait to meet the New Zealand skaters and see how I perform against them,” Leahy said.
“I am looking forward to trying to get the gold medal this year with my team, after we finished second last year.”
The Oceania Championships will also be held in Queensland from September 21.
