Share the Dignity’s second 2017 sanitary drive is on its way, kicking off on August 1 and running for the full month of August.
The #dignitydrives encourage people to donate and supply sanitary items including pads and tampons for women in need, with the aim of restoring dignity to homeless women during menstruation.
This time around, with the support of Share the Dignity's newest ambassador Rebecca Gibney, the organisation are hoping to bring further awareness to their cause and encourage more Australians to donate to homeless women in Australia.
The charity believes that access to sanitary items should be a right and not a privilege, and with the support of the Australian public, have collected almost half a million packets of pads and tampons since their April 2016 #dignitydrive.
There are currently more than 100,000 Australians living on the streets, and more than 44 per cent of them are female and in need of sanitary products on an ongoing basis.
A number of local South West businesses have joined the fight and are rallying with more than 1000 other volunteers across the country at more than 200 Australian locations to collect the required items for women doing it tough in Bunbury and surrounds.
