Community and sporting groups are now invited to apply for funding assistance of up to $5,000 through the Shire of Dardanup’s bi-annual community grants program.
Council has previously funded projects that have promoted the arts, supported sporting events, improved the lives of seniors and people with disabilities and helped community gardens come alive.
Shire of Dardanup chief executive officer Mark Chester said the purpose of the grants was to provide positive financial support to not-for-profit community groups and organisations, and individuals to help assist with the development of their chosen interest.
“In some cases the organisations to benefit from this funding assistance are very small but as a collective, they have a significant and positive effect on ensuring our shire is a great place to live,” Mr Chester said.
“The Shire of Dardanup council is very appreciative of the work undertaken by these grass roots projects and this has been demonstrated once again with funding support in the 2017/18 budget.”
Shire of Dardanup acting manager of culture and community services Melanie Serra encouraged groups and individuals interested in submitting an application, to make contact with staff to discuss their project, ensuring assistance could be offered to help maximise potential for funding support.
Round one 2017/18 grants are now open with applications closing on Monday, August 28 at 4pm.
Personal development grants are available to individuals representing WA in their chosen field throughout the 2017/18 year.
These grants are available in various fields such as music, sports, arts, science, cultural and academic.
