A Yallingup man pleaded guilty on Thursday to 53 child sex charges.
The man, who is not named for legal reasons, faced Bunbury Magistrates Court via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison.
He pleaded guilty to each of the 53 charges put to him by Magistrate Brian Mahon. The offences were all committed between October 3, 2016 and January 30, 2017.
The charges to which he pleaded guilty were:
- 17x sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16
- 3x sexual penetration of a child under 13
- 7x produced child exploitation material
- 2x procured, encouraged or incited a child under 13 years to do an indecent act
- 8x procured a child of or over 13 and under 16 to do an indecent act
- 1x possessed child exploitation material
- 1x indecently recorded a child under 13 years
- 8x indecently dealt with a child over 13 and under 16 years of age
- 4x indecent dealings with a child under 13 years
- 1x attempted sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16
- 1x attempted sexual penetration of a child under 13
All of the offences were alleged to have happened in Yallingup.
The matter was fast tracked to the Bunbury District Court for sentencing on December 11.
Mr Mahon ordered a written pre-sentence report, a psychological report and a psychiatric report be prepared for what he foreshadowed as being “a difficult sentencing exercise”.
The man was remanded in custody without a bail application being made.
