A number of Bunbury groups and businesses are in the running to win a 2017 WA Regional Achievement and Community Award.
Bethanie Maali Social Centre in Carey Park, C Change – Creating possibilities for local youth in Dalyellup, the Zonta Club of Bunbury and the South West Indian Group are all finalists for the TAB Community Service award.
Bunbury’s Friends of Big Swamp Group is a finalist in the Landcorp Sustainability award, Hands Up 4 Kids reading program is a finalist for the RAC Volunteering award and the Shire of Dardanup Roadwise Committee will compete for the Insurance Commission of Western Australia Regional Safety award.
Harvey Community Radio and the Memories of Bunbury Facebook page are both in contention for the Horizon Power Leadership and Innovation award.
Four groups have been named as finalists in the Prime Super Business Achievement award in Southern Car Care, H&H Automotive, Creative Living by Gabrielle East in Millbridge and Ocean Star Village – Catholic Homes Inc.
Gravity Etc. in Dalyellup is a finalist for the both the Horizon Power Leadership and Innovation award and the Prime Super Business Achievement award.
Judging for the awards will be completed by the end of the month with finalists presented and winners announced at a gala dinner on Friday, October 20.
The winner of each category will receive a $2000 prize from the Commonwealth Bank and a trophy.
One of the 11 category winners will be named the overall state winner and will receive an additional $2000 from the Commonwealth Bank, $3000 from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and a hand crafted state trophy.
Since the creation of the Western Australian Regional Achievement and Community Awards in 2002, it has aimed to encourage, acknowledge and reward the valuable contributions individuals, communities and businesses are making throughout regional and rural Western Australia.
The awards recognise and pay tribute to their achievements, which contribute to making regional Western Australia a better community.
