Six Taekwondo West Eaton students recently travelled to Perth to compete in sparring and poomsae at the state taekwondo selections.
Head instructor Annette Buss said the students had been doing extra training in the lead up to the competition, working on building their fitness to perform well on the day.
On day one of the competition, Aiden McLaren and Nayte Wright won silver medals and Kobe McLaren won a bronze medal in their poomsae divisions.
There was plenty of action on day two as well with Harry Kane, Brayden Matheson and Nayte Wright all winning gold convincingly in sparring to capture state titles for their divisions.
Aiden McLaren won a silver medal in sparring, missing the gold by one point in the dying seconds of his fight. Kobe McLaren and Katey Walter won bronze medals in sparring.
The students now focus their attention on the national championships in Bendigo with local competitors regularly travelling to Perth to train with the state team.
Buss said she was very pleased with the results and would like to thank coaches Kim Walter, Ryan Butterfield and Justin Reynolds for the time and effort they put into the sparring training.
