City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan has revealed he can’t stop smiling when he thinks about all the events coming to town in the next 12 months.
A total of 24 events have shared in a pool of $310,000 that is designed to support organisations that are helping the city continue to grow as a diverse and vibrant place to live and visit.
Mayor Brennan said he was exceptionally proud of the work the Bunbury Events Advisory Group had down to promote the City as a first-class location to host local, state and national events.
“When I was elected as Mayor I was very keen to establish a community based advisory group to be pro-active in promoting the City and luring events to town – which they’ve done a wonderful job of.”
The latest event to confirm it’s attendance in Bunbury is the 2018 BMX national championships.
“The BMX championships will bring 2,000 people to town for nearly a week so there will be a big demand for our accommodation, restaurants and services,” he said.
“The economic benefit of big events is huge and the visitors get a chance to see just how much Bunbury has grown and developed in recent years. There’s a lot to be excited about.”
Mayor Brennan also said the list of events coming to town shows organisers have confidence in Bunbury’s ability to deliver.
New events joining the 2018 calendar including the Action Sports Games, Bunbury Adventure Festival, Bunbury Beer and Wine Festival and the Bunbury-Geographe Gift.
These will occur alongside already popular events including Groovin The Moo, the South West Multicultural Festival, the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod and the Bunbury Fringe Festival.
