Over the last year, proceeds from the Trade Hire Busselton Motorfest have helped people in the community get back on their feet - or in some cases – back on their wheels.
Busselton residents Jonnie and Sue needed some help to modify their modified bicycles which they used to cycle together.
With the help of Rex from The Fat Duck and a brand new bike given to Sue for a special price from South West Cycles they were able to get back on the road.
Disc brakes were also installed so Sue could stop in spite of powerful pedaling from Jonnie.
Motocross rider Jamie was able to get help from South West Machinery which made modifications to his four-wheel motorcycle so the quadriplegic rider could compete in racing events.
The Motorfest team also helped Jamie install a lifting device in his home to help his carers look after him.
This year the Busselton Motorfest will be held on Sunday November 26 at Sir Stewart Bovell Oval, all proceeds from the event go back into helping people in the community.
The committee members and volunteers would like to thank everyone who attended last year’s event for making these projects possible.
The next project the team will work on is helping a young man Jaya get his car back together.
Motorfest event organiser Phil Ashton said the money raised from the event helps people in crisis which could be anything from the women’s refuge to someone who needs a pushbike.
