The Cancer Council of WA has congratulated Dardanup Primary on becoming a SunSmart school.

Regional Education Officer Shenae Norris visited the school on Friday to present the school with a SunSmart sign in recognition of their efforts to embrace the initiative.

While presenting at the school’s assembly, Ms Norris took the opportunity to remind the students that sun protection is required when the UV is above three.

“I am very pleased that Mrs Fortescue has taken the initiative to adopt both Cancer Council programs at Dardanup Primary School,” she said.

“It is great to see regional schools identifying the risks associated with poor nutrition and sun protection in children.

“Cancer prevention is an effective way to reach our goal of a cancer-free future. I therefore encourage other regional schools to consider becoming SunSmart, and for parents and teachers to download the SunSmart app to view the daily UV.”
