The Flower Designers’ Club of Bunbury inc. has taken over the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries for a flora-filled, four-day delight.
The Blooming Art Exhibition will be held at the Wittenoom Street space from Thursday, September 21 from 2pm to 7pm as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
The Blooming Art section has invited special guest artists to display their creations.
The guest artists must choose a piece of artwork from the City of Bunbury collection and create a floral display based on their pick.
Special guest artist Sue Dennis, whose piece is titled ‘Grass Will Grow Again’, said she was looking forward to this year’s festival.
She said the title directed the way the creative process would go.
Blooming Art exhibition coordinator Eileen Wenn said visitors were able to vote for their favourite pieces.
She said the exhibition took off when floral art became noticed as a true art form in Bunbury.
“[It is] the talent of our local artists, definitely the regional art gallery supports us big time,” she said.
“It seems to be for people of all ages, we get the teenagers, young mums and dads, the middle-aged ones, the oldies/young at heart and the tiny tots, they all loved it.”
This year, club members have created a ‘bedtime’ themed piece in the Chapel Gallery.
The annual exhibition has been held at the gallery facility since its inception, benefited by the gallery and flower designers’ club alliance.
