The Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre, Healthway and award-winning theatre company Monkey Baa are bringing the Go For 2 and 5 Diary of a Wombat WA Tour 2017 to the South West.
Monkey Baa’s Creative Directorate Eva Di Cesare, Sandra Eldridge and Tim McGarry have delivered a new production based on the multi-award winning picture book Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley.
Ms Di Cesare said the Australian production will feature puppetry, a live cello score and set design in Monkey Baa’s signature style.
“We've assembled an extraordinary team of artists to bring this iconic picture book to life,” she said.
“Diary of a Wombat is such an enduring childhood classic and audiences are going to fall in love with Mothball all over again when she burrows her way on to the stage.”
Audiences aged three and over will meet Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia.
Bored with her daily routine, Mothball goes in search of shelter and food and creates chaos for the humans around her.
"What Monkey Baa has done is extraordinary,” French said.
“In fact, what they have done is impossible, but Monkey Baa has always done the impossible."
The show stars Michael Cullen (War Horse), Samantha Hickey (Hamlet) and Shondelle Pratt (Man of La Mancha) with cellist Mary Rapp also portraying the voice of Mothball.
BREC will play host to Mothball’s mischievous adventures on Monday 6th November at 6pm.
Tickets are on sale now from bunburyentertainment.com or by visiting the BREC Box Office.
