The Dalyellup Beach Cricket Club has been given a chance at a major financial boost, all thanks to the Australian Sports Foundation.
The club and foundation have teamed up to help raise $100,000 in tax deductable donations.
All funds raised will go towards new new equipment for the club.
The Australian Sports Foundation is the only sporting organisation to offer tax deductions for donations to sporting groups in Australia.
The foundation raised over $44.65 million to assist Australian sport in 2016/17, raising more than $100 million over the past three years.
The club has grown from a Milo in 2 Cricket centre to the largest club in the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association over 11 seasons.
Dalyellup Beach Cricket Club president Ben Lagana said the club was working towards a new turf wicket and cricket roller.
“Certainly, having a vehicle where people can make tax free donations is going to open the door, whether it’s community members or organisations to help out,” he said.
“We currently have five senior teams plus masters and we have nine junior teams so it’s just about trying to provide the best facilities for all of our members.
“We are changing our approach a lot and we want to try and make it a lot more social so we’ll have a lot more social community events.”
Mr Lagana said the club has registered and will start promoting the campaign at their season launch on Friday.
He noted the club has experienced some issues over the past few years.
“I think over the last few years we’ve probably had a bit of a dip and that’s why I am getting involved this year because we certainly have found that our social engagement has dropped off,” he said.
“We’re sort of back trying to give that a big push at the moment.”
The club is currently planning a Christmas Festival to attract community members.
