Police have confirmed they are investigating the death of a man on board a ship in Bunbury on Saturday evening.
Officers were called to Bunbury Port about 7pm following reports a man had died.
At this stage the death is understood to be related to a workplace accident, and Worksafe has been advised.
The man was in his 20s, and was from overseas.
A Southern Ports spokesperson said Southern Ports was assisting authorities to investigate the incident which happened on board a vessel at berth 5.
“Southern Ports was alerted to the incident shortly after 7pm,” the spokesperson said.
“Investigations into the nature of the incident are ongoing and Southern Ports is not in a position to provide further details.
“The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has been notified, WA Police have attended and operations at the berth have been suspended.”
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
