Scottish singer-songwriter Isla Grant is excited to once again perform for Australian audiences.
The triple-platinum recording artist heads to the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre to perform songs from her back catalogue as well as numbers from her new album, I’m A Survivor.
Talking over the phone, Grant describes her music as having a mix of folk, country, gospel and blues for “easy listening”.
Her style has helped to establish her success in Australia as well as the USA, Canada, UK and New Zealand.
Grant has returned to our shores for her new tour, Isla Grant in Concert, following numerous sell-out performances in 2015.
Grant told the Mail performing and recording music was always what she wanted to do.
“It’s the reaction that you get back from the audience, we’re very fortunate that we have wonderful audiences right across the world and they always make us feel welcome when we return,” she said.
“It’s always a joy to meet up with them again and hopefully make a lot of new friends as well.”
The musician said she was pleased her new album had done well and reached out to so many people.
“There’s some new Isla Grant songs on it but there’s also songs that I have wanted to record for many years that I have liked myself,” she said.
The folk/country musician will be joined on stage by her husband, Al Grant, delivering a tribute to singer-songwriter Jim Reeves.
Singer/multi-instrumentalist Glenn Flynn will also be joining the Grants on stage in Bunbury.
“Al and I have been singing together for 35 years so I always call it my Family On the Road, it’s very easy to do because we all get on well together, we have lots of fun and it’s a joy to tour with them,” she said.
Isla Grant in Concert hits BREC on Friday, October 13 from 7.30pm. Check BREC’s website, https://www.bunburyentertainment.com/, for details.
