Motown ensemble The Teskey Brothers will bring their signature style to Bunbury as part of their South West adventure.
The group will perform at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Thursday, November 9 as part of the group’s first WA tour.
The tour includes performances at this year’s Wave Rock Festival in Hyden, Fremantle, Mandurah, Margaret River, Dunsborough, Perth before wrapping up their South West line-up with the Bridgetown Blues and Roots Festival.
As far as Teskey Brothers drummer Liam Gough is concerned, the tour gives the group the chance to spread motown, blues and soul vibes to fans and new listeners.
“I guess people sort of characterise our music as soul, groove, rhythm and blues, 50s and 60s – and little bit of 70s – era inspired,” he said.
“We love playing shows to people that want to hear our music, we’ve been playing together for about 10 years and we have played a lot of good shows and also a lot of bad shows, it’s nice that we’re getting a bit of traction to play some shows to people that are really eager to engage and our music and us, so that’s really good.
“The four of us we’ve been friends since we were young teenagers so it’s a lot of fun, we sort of treat like holiday touring and we love getting around and seeing new places.”
The tour comes off the back of The Teskey Brothers’ self-produced debut album Half Mile Harvest along with sold-out performances on the east coast. The album was released independently in January and has since sold over 7000 copies.
“We weren’t even sure if it was going to be a whole album or an EP, we hadn’t even recorded an released anything properly for about six or seven years, so we just felt the need to put something out and so we started working on it and it evolved into an album,” he explained.
The group has been invited to perform at the prestigious Dashville Skyline, New Years Eve on the Hill and the Strawberry Fields Festival events.
They are also set to open for Midnight Oil at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.
