Subiaco is set for a new splash of colour as internationally acclaimed street artists as part of the Paint Subi project.
Supported by public art champions FORM, the project kicks off on the 6th of November, with four artists bringing colourful life to two laneways, a four-storey carpark wall, and the iconic Subiaco post office.
Local muralists Hayley Welsh and Sioux Tempestt will join international artists Okuda San Miguel and Evoca1 to transform four walls in Subiaco with their unique visions.
Children are invited to participate painting Hayley Welsh's mural on Saturday the 11th of November, and Subi shoppers and residents will have a chance to see the works in progress with free guided tours at each location.
Spain's Okuda San Miguel is known for his iconically colourful, geometric style which he's used to bring life to abandoned factories, churches and railroads.
Dominican-American street artist Evoca1 will bring his vivid, symbolic style to the Rockeby Road Post Office building.
Local muralist Hayley Welsh's work will be recognisable to Perth Residents with her cheeky, recognisable characters found on walls around the city and Sioux Tempestt's vibrant, abstract style which has been features at the Fringe Festival, the Telstra Fashion Festival and the Subiaco Street Party.
City of Subiaco CEO Don Burnett said the public art was an important investment in the city's cultural and economic development, and helped bring vibrancy to the streets of Subiaco.
"This energetic project is an addition to the city's extensive public art portfolio and adds aesthetic diversity to the Subiaco Town Centre," he said.
"It's about adding to the vibe of the area and making Subiaco a place for residents, workers and visitors to enjoy".
