A WA man has been airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after being involved in a serious surfing incident in the South West.
The RAC Rescue Helicopter picked the man, aged in his 20s, up from Boodjidup Beach in Gnarabup around 12.30pm.
WAtoday understands the surfer crashed into reef, injuring his back and leg.
He temporarily lost consciousness before being assisted by bystanders, who placed him in the recovery position on shore and waited for paramedics to arrive.
He is expected to arrive at Royal Perth Hospital at 1.30pm.
