PETstock Bunbury’s head veterinary nurse’s work has been formally acknowledged by clients, peers and the industry.
Nikki White received the Petplan Veterinary Nurse of the Year 2017 award earlier this month.
Petplan opened voting in September and gave clients one month to provide nominations for the Vet Hospital, Veterinarian and Veterinary Nurse of the year categories.
According to Petplan, Ms White received the highest number of nominations out of every person or practice nominated across all categories Australia wide.
Ms White said she was overwhelmed and honoured by the result.
“I was actually speechless, I just couldn’t believe it. The acknowledgement and the support from the community was incredible,” she said.
Ms White said veterinary nursing was rewarding and provided interesting challenges every day.
“It is the most challenging and rewarding career you could ever think of,” she said.
“I have always loved animals, and loved being around animals since I was a child, and I pursued my career at a really young age.
“I have been in the industry for nearly 18 years and worked up the WA coast.
“I love liaising and educating the community on better pet health care.”
A donation was made in her name to Seeing Eye Dogs Australia (the charity of her choice).
Ms White would like to thank Petplan, her fellow nominees and everyone who had voted for her.
