Another bust by Fisheries Officers has caught a group of fishermen as they allegedly prepared to set dozens of traps for marron in a rural WA dam earlier this week.
It's understood officers responded to public reports of a group of fishermen, around 30 to 40 people, who were planning to camp near Wellington Dam this weekend.
Public reports said the social group was planning to catch significant amounts of marron as a part of an "annual get-together".
When officers arrived they inspected four vehicles and apprehended a man, along with 22 marron traps in what they called a "significant marron poaching operation."
Marron fishing season begins in January, and fishing for wild-catch marron out-of-season in WA is illegal.
The investigation is continuing, and comes just days after two Collie fishermen were caught with more than 100 "illegally" caught marron.
Officers seized 139 marron from the two fishers on a recent night patrol, and the pair will appear in Collie Magistrates Court at a later date.
Members of the public have been urged to contact Fisheries with any information regarding future illegal marine activity.
