The City of Bunbury is getting ready for next year’s Australian Beach Games at the new-look Koombana Bay Foreshore.
The event, held on February 9 to 11, will feature competitions for teams of two, four and six.
Sports will include AFL, touch rugby, life saving, basketball, frisbee, dodgeball, triathlon, handball, table tennis, netball, and soccer.
The weekend will also feature live music, food trucks, and entertainment for people of all ages.
Bunbury Volleyball Association formally announced its involvement in next year’s games on Wednesday, November 15.
Deputy Mayor Jaysen de San Miguel met with Event management company Event People (the creative masterminds behind the games) and Bunbury Volleyball Association representatives for the announcement.
Mr Miguel said the games would draw participants and spectators from around Australia to Bunbury.
“People will come down herewith their families to be involved and they will understand what Bunbury has to offer,” he said.
“With Koombana looking brand new, it’s really going to be amazing for our city.”

Next year’s games will hit coastal areas across Australia including Port Adelaide, Frankston, the Gold Coast and Newcastle.
Event People managing director Scott Hollow said it provided an opportunity to attract people to a wide array of sports.
“With a lot of the sports you can come and have a try or do a workshop in something you may not have done before,” he said.
Mr Hollow said Koombana Bay Foreshore provided an attractive and welcoming venue for the games.
Bunbury Volleyball Association vice president Warren McVittie added the games would help people discover more about the region’s volleyball clubs and competitions.
“We look forward to a great tournament and encourage all regional towns to get on board for what will be a significant sporting event for Bunbury and surrounds,” he said
Three major volleyball competitions – the Alcohol Think Again Beach Tour, the Australian Under-23 Beach Championships, and the Australian Junior Beach Championships – will also come to Bunbury in April 2018.
