People across Bunbury are expected to come together on Friday, November 24 to encourage an end to male violence against women.
The White Ribbon Day event aims to promote gender equality, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity.
The White Ribbon campaign is about recognising the positive role that men plan in preventing violence against women.
Bunbury White Ribbon Day event committee spokesperson Hovea Wilkes said the campaign is a means for men to speak out and act to stop violence against women and to safely and effectively challenge the attitudes and behaviours of a minority of men who use or cordone violence against women.
“We invite everyone in the South West community to wear white and join a community march through the Bunbury CBD, gathering outside the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery at 10.30am for a 10.45 start,” she said.
“Then at 11am, a commemorative service will be held in Bunbury’s Anzac Park with guest speakers, the laying of wreaths and a minutes silence to mourn all those lives lost and to contemplate a brighter future.”
