Jeffrey Tambor has reportedly resigned from Amazon's award-winning TV series Transparent after being accused of sexual misconduct.
While the Emmy-award winner has strongly denied any wrongdoing, Deadline is reporting he won't take part in the show's upcoming fifth-season.
"Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life," he told the trade publication. "What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago.
"I've already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicised atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don't see how I can return to Transparent."
Amazon launched an investigation into Tambor's behaviour earlier this month after former assistant Van Barnes turned to Facebook to claim she had been harassed. Last week, a second colleague came forward - this time transgender actor Trace Lysette - to accuse the 73-year-old of sexually harassing her on set.
Lysette plays yoga instructor Shae on the Amazon series, and on Friday urged the company to "remove the problem and let the show go on".
"He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against my body," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pyjamas."
Over the weekend, speculation was mounting the show would get rid of Tambor given there had been early - and tentative - discussions about writing his character out of the script. While the show first centred around Maura's coming out, it has since explored her family and its history in great detail.
Amazon renewed the series for a fifth season back in August, but the latest iteration isn't expected to debut on streaming services until well into 2018.
The show's creator, non-binary director Jill Soloway, has yet to make public statement.
Tambor, meanwhile, is due to reprise his role as George Bluth Senior in the award-winning comedy series Arrested Development. Netflix has said the fifth season will be out sometime in 2018.
