Blue ringed octopuses, tiger sharks and a crayfish punch-up - if you were one of thousands who headed top any of Perth's metropolitan beaches over the weekend, you've probably returned to work on Monday with your own story to tell.
Sunday's warm weather brought complete chaos to boat ramps across Perth, with anxious crayfishers, fishermen and recreational boaters all battling to get their vessels on the water as the temperatures peaked at around 38 degrees.
Some people arrived at Perth boat ramps as early as 3.30am to ensure they were able to get their craft out on the water ahead of the rush.
There were big queues at 6am for the East Fremantle boat ramp, and fishers who arrived after 7.30am to the Ocean Reef boat ramp received a shock with a large backlog of traffic bringing some major roads to a standstill.
And just two hours later, Hillarys Marina experienced the same problem.
Traffic had backed up all the way to the Hepburn Avenue exit, around 1.2km away from Hillary's launching platforms.
Perth locals have since taken to social media to share their experiences of queuing for boat ramp access, and they've detailed all the thrills, spills and punch-ups between boaties.
"It's all fun at Woodman Point ramp... two boats fell off trailer on ramp, and a punch-up this morning... the joys of crayfishing," one man said.
Another local chimed in with another punch-up:
"Apparently a crayfish was thrown during the fight and someone had to get stitches where the horn penetrated the skin."
But a number of Perth boaties defended their brethren and commended each other for their respect and helpfulness.
Recfishwest, who are based at most of metropolitan Perth's major boat ramps, said the worst was yet to come.
"Looking outside our office windows, there's about 150 boats already lined up for the ramp," a spokesman said at around 11am on Monday morning.
"From our [weekend] reports, the local Perth waters were packed with families having a great time pulling cray pots and diving for crays, fishing for summer pelagic fish such as tuna and mackerel and generally enjoying the great weather.
"People need to be patient at the ramps, help each other out and that way it allows everyone to have great experiences when heading out to catch a fish with the family."
As locals continue to flock to Perth beaches, a WA-based boating business offered a timely reminder regarding the dangerous animals who also call the state's oceans home.
Blue HQ Marinas posted a photo of one of their fishermen's deadly catches.
A blue-ringed octopus had managed to find its way into one of his cray pots last week.
"Keep your eyes out," they posted.
"Blue ringed octopuses are being found in local waters and coming up on cray pots."
The company hash-tagged the post "more frightening than a great white".
With enough venom to kill 10 adult humans within minutes stored in its little body, there's little doubt this is the case.
According to the Aquarium of Western Australia, "their bites are tiny and often painless, with many victims not realising they have been bitten until respiratory depression and paralysis start to set in."
While they are relatively common, they are often found in WA's southerns waters but can migrate further south.
Crayfishers should make sure to check their pots for the tiny animals, as they love hanging around in small crevices and shallow reefs.
A man has also taken a photo of his own deadly "catch of the day", after reeling in a huge four metre tiger shark off an unnamed Perth beach.
James made the catch last week with a custom built rod from Mikes Custom Rods here in Perth, and measured the shark at around 4.1 metres, or 13.5 feet.
And apparently this weekend's madness isn't the end.
"The boat ramps are crazy at the moment with the 'whites' run in full swing and keen fishers getting out early to get their feed of fresh self-caught seafood in time for Christmas," a Recfishwest spokesman said.
"And with the demersal fishing closure ending this Friday, people will be gearing up to fish for species such as Dhufish and Snapper from Saturday and all through summer."
The demersal finfish recreational season opens next week on December 16, which means fishermen can try their luck with some of WA's bigger game fish.
Next week's forecast is also expected to be "near-perfect" boating conditions with low winds and high temperatures set to draw the crowds all over again.
"It's definitely going to get worse before it gets better," Recfishwest said.
