The man who fatally 'coward punched' a stranger at a Mandurah pub has been jailed for seven years, but with time already served and parole, he could be out in four.
Jake Raymond Mosley, 28, struck chef Jason Goodwin, 27, at the Silver Sands Tavern about 4pm on September 20, 2016.
Both Mosley and Mr Goodwin, who were not known to each other, had been playing pool at the Mandurah pub.
Without provocation, Mosley punched Mr Goodwin in a sudden attack that left the young man dead.
Mr Goodwin never regained consciousness following the incident, and died at Royal Perth Hospital a week later.
A subsequent post mortem revealed the cause of his death as "traumatic brain injury".
At the time he was hit, Mr Goodwin had his hands in his pockets.
"The deceased must have been blindsided," Justice Joseph McGrath said prior to Mosley's sentencing in the WA Supreme Court on Friday.
Mosley, who has been in custody since police found him hiding in an Applecross motel three days after the attack, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in May.
Justice McGrath referred to Mosley's punch as a "ferocious strike", with Mr Goodwin's death leaving an "enormous hole" in his family.
At the time of the offence Mandurah detectives said the incident was a "gutless" and "unprovoked".
A closer look at penalties
Mosley's sentencing comes days after the McGowan Government said it would look at re-examining WA's one-punch penalties.
The promise followed a Perth magistrate's decision last week not to jail Swan View man Dylan Robert Thomas, who viciously punched two teens in the head earlier this year.
Instead, Thomas was handed a 12-month suspended sentence.
Since Jason's death, his parents Kevin and Michelle Goodwin have campaigned for harsher penalties following the ordeal of watching their son die in intensive care.
"Michelle was with him constantly holding his hand - doctors didn't try to mislead us at all, it was always on the knife edge whether he was going to make it or not," Mr Goodwin said, speaking of his grief at the way his son died.
"The danger is it kills. It's not the punch. It's when they hit the ground and smash their head open."
Kevin Goodwin said there needed to be stiffer penalties for those who inflict one-punch attacks.
"Until there's some real discouragement I don't know how you're going to stop people doing this unless they know there's something serious at the other end of it for them," he said.
"It's been dragging its feet for a long time and I think it's time somebody stood up and pushed it through, did something about it."
There's been at least 10 deadly one-punch attacks in WA in the past decade, with six separate attacks also recorded this year.

March: A Perth grandfather died after an alleged one-punch attack outside a Maylands pizza restaurant. He never regained consciousness after his head hit the bitumen.
March: A 25-year-old man was charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and knew his victim.
April: A 36-year-old man was leaving a licensed bar on Marine Parade in Busselton when he was hit without warning. He was flown to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition and was eventually released.
April: A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm in relation to the Busselton attack.
June: A WA Police officer was left severely concussed after trying to break up a group of out-of-control teenagers in Madora Bay.
June: A 17-year old boy was charged with two counts of assaulting a public officer and escaping lawful custody, and another 17-year-old boy from Dudley Park was also charged with assaulting and obstructing a public officer.
July: A 17-year-old man had been standing on the side of the road in Claremont when he was approached by another man. He was knocked unconscious. Moments later, the same man punched another man to the ground and left the scene.
July: A 28-year-old man was taken to the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital after he was punched in the head outside North Shore Tavern.
August: A 33-year-old man was charged in relation to the North Shore attack.
December: The man charged with the Claremont attacks, Dylan Thomas, avoided jail and was given a 12-month suspended sentence.
