A bevy of arts and entertainment events will enliven Bunbury’s CBD early next year.
The Bunbury Fringe Festival is returning for its second year from February 16 to 24.
Fringe Festival director Joel McGuinness said he was excited to deliver the event, utilising five different venues over 10 days, to the region.
“The first year was awesome and what we’re going to do this time is have more venues – we want to share the love around in the CBD,” he said.
“The whole reason we wanted to put on a Fringe Festival was to support the local community and local artists, in particular.
“Some of the business owners said they were some of the busiest weekends they had had in the whole year, so we want to share that love with the businesses through the CBD.”
Member for Bunbury Don Punch MLA commended the festival’s role in bringing people into Bunbury.
The extravaganza will see comedy stars Damian Callinan, Ciaran Lyons, Ben Darsow and Famous Sharon bring big laughs to Bunbury.
Naked Villainy Theatre will deliver “food, fun and frivolity” with Shakespeare, Shanks and Ale.
Theatre fans will get to experience Benjamin and Me and The One With Whiskey and Boots Theatre.
Marmalade Mama, the Roof Goats and Friends, and Repartee for Two will also wow audiences with their musical stylings.
Art lovers can indulge in A Nod To Japan on Saturday, February 17 along with the South West Art exhibition’s official opening on the 24th.
The Victoria Street Party will hit Bunbury’s coffee and restaurant strip with “all things fringe” on the 17th.
Maker and Co, the Rose Hotel, Bunbury Regional Art Galleries and Unwind Bar have come on-board as event locations whilst Wellington Street’s Good Earth Surf Shop will serve as the Fringe Hub and Garden.
The Garden – a new venue for 2018’s festival – will deliver live music, pop-up performances and food trucks for punters.
Organisers announced the full line-up of acts and activities during the official launch on December 14 and thanked the City of Bunbury, sponsors and locations for their support.
