From February 5, the Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry will have a new chief executive following the retirement of Ray Philp.
The announcement was made last week that Mark Seaward would be taking the reins with his experience in technology application a key strength.
“I didn’t really expect to get it but here I am, I’m going to embrace it and run with it,” Mr Seaward said.
“We’ve got lots of new people on the board so we are going to shape the future direction, we would like to make it more relevant to members.”
Retiring chief executive Ray Philp said he had enjoyed the job after spending 40 years working for a corporation and was looking forward to moving to Perth and spending more time with family.
“Having a person like Mark coming in, sort of makes me feel a lot easier moving on,” he said.
“Mark is very familiar with the operation, being a vice president of the chamber, he has a strong understanding of what we’re all about.”
