HitFM WA’s new breakfast show hosts are looking forward to settling in and experiencing all things South West.
Juelz Jarry and Jesse Watkins have been picked to replace Ned Breward and Josh Torney, who took over Hit 104.7’s breakfast slot in Canberra last month.
Jarry previously served as HitFM Dubbo’s breakfast announcer.
The radio host could not contain her excitement after finding out she would be moving across the country.
“I rang Jesse and Jesse was doing his shift on air, and I was screaming,” she said.
“I was really excited and really happy that we both got it.
“I flew over and fell in love with Bunbury straight away, Jesse just showed me around Bunbury and it’s amazing.”
Among her achievements in the industry, Jarry has been nominated for nine Australian Commercial Radio Awards and won three.
Meanwhile, Watkins, after finishing his studies, headed straight to Bunbury to take up a casual position at the network.
He has since been HitFM’s South West workday announcer for more than two years.
The pair are now breathing a sigh of relief, having gone through months of demos and chemistry tests before being chosen.
Taking the reins from Ned and Josh, the duo plans to steer the shift in a different direction and make their mark.
“Having started to work with Juelz, I think it’ll be so good to have a female back in the role and I think we’ll bring very different perspectives,” Watkins said.
“Ned and Josh were very close in what they liked.”
Describing the set-up as an “arranged marriage”, Jarry sees their pairing as an opportunity to bring something new to the table.
“It will be a different dynamic - we’ll be covering variations of so many different topics and having different opinions on things, and hoping to really interact with our audience as well,” she said.
“There will be arguments, but they will be healthy arguments.”
Juelz and Jesse are looking for maximum interaction with listeners across the South West. The duo hit the airwaves for the first time on Monday, January 15.
