Performing across Western Australia will deliver uncharted territory and new stories for Sunshine Coast rock group Buck Dean and the Green Lips.
The group is heading to Bunbury’s Prince of Wales Hotel on Thursday, January 18 before playing in Fremantle and Perth.
Buck Dean drummer Brent Daniels eagerly anticipated playing on the other side of Australia.
“We’re pretty keen to get over there and see what it is all about,” he said. “I’ve never been over there but a few of the other boys have so we’re all keen to get over there and see what it’s like and see if they like our style of music.”
The ensemble came together in 2015, and has worked tirelessly ever since to create a style of its own.
“We were all jamming on a Friday night while drinking beers, it was something to do, and a mate who was in a band came around and heard us jam, he asked if we wanted to come and open up for his band,” he said.
“We got that first gig out of the way and after that we got asked to do a couple of parties and it just snowballed.”
The group is a hit on the live music circuit on the east coast, performing at the Big Pineapple Music Festival in 2016 and 2017 among others.
The band went on a wild ride in 2017, touring along the Queensland coast and getting their name out to the masses. Following their WA run, the band is heading off to Sydney and Melbourne for several performances.
Daniels said the band will “keep plugging away at it” to reach Australian rock crowds.
“We want bigger and better crowds, more people dancing to our music,” he said.
“You can really tell when you’ve got the crowd in your hands, it’s a good feeling when everyone is really focused and dancing to the music you’re playing.”
