Get ready for the flares, the hair and all the sparkles - Abbalicious will be kicking off a new series of dinner dance shows at the Quality Hotel Lighthouse on February 3.
Band coordinator Zalia Joi said the six-piece group, including local drummer Riley Stewart would be playing all the best of ABBA with exciting costumes and plenty of fun Swedish banter.
“It’s a really great night out, if you want to come away inspired and uplifted that’s what you’ll get,” she said.
“It’s just really good fun, uptempo music to lift the soul and lift your spirits.
“I’m really excited to come down to Bunbury and I think it’s a great concept from Bunbury Entertainment Agency and the Lighthouse, it’s bringing the community together, it’s giving them live music.”
Joi who takes on the legendary persona of Frida said for her it was about bringing the joy.
“For me if I can share that joy with the crowd and if I can impart that enthusiasm for the music – that’s what drives me,” she said.
“I don’t try to be Freda but what I would do singing the music as ABBA – the music is amazing.
“I take it on myself and portray it from how I would sing the music – as a musician I get to really appreciate the harmonies and the melodies and the words.”
With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Joi described the show as sparkles and spectacular with the incredible musicianship of Benny and Bjorn shining through.
“They were very smart, Benny was classically trained and Bjorn was also very smart in song writing so they just knew how to make music work with the changes in melody and chord structure,” she said.
“The people that want to get up and dance we will totally encourage but we won’t drag anybody up.
“People are also really welcome to chair dance or just sit and watch the show – it will be a really fun night.”
The night will include a three-course meal with accommodation packages available along with seating options to cater for couples through to larger groups.
