Molly’s Game tells the true story of Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) who, at 21, devised a unique plan to get rich quick.

Hosting a high-stakes poker game in Los Angeles, she wrangled some of the biggest actors, musicians, sports stars and politicians to her side.

Of course, as with every story of commercial success and personal ruin, what goes up...must come down.

Stepping up to directorial duties with Molly’s Game, acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin proves he is one of a kind.

The part-man-part-machine screenwriter has penned everything from A Few Good Men, Moneyball, The West Wing, The Social Network, Steve Jobs and so many other notable works in between.

As with most Sorkin scripts, scenes of dialogue take up the majority of an otherwise bloated run-time.

His directorial debut succeeds thanks to Chastain and co-star Idris Elba.

Chastain follows up her ravenous performance in Miss Sloane with another strong, ballbusting turn.

Their cheeky banter hits harder than the average big-screen shoot-out or explosion.

Despite being released in a field of no-nonsense crime-dramas during Oscar season, Molly’s Game still stands out from the crowd.
