A new reticulation system has breathed new life into the gardens and lawns at the Australind Senior Citizens Centre.

Member for Collie-Preston Mick Murray visited the centre last week and inspected the new bore and reticulation system, which was funded by a $15,000 grant through the governments Local Projects and Local Jobs project.

Mr Murray said it had been great to see the project finished and serving the community.

“It’s always nice as the minister for seniors as much as a member of parliament, it makes me feel quite chuffed and that the process is working and that seniors are being looked after just as much as local sporting groups,” he said.

“Why I respect this group is that they are quiet achievers, they do it for themselves and we complement that with funding.”

Australind Senior Citizen Club president Elvaan Cole said it was wonderful.

“It’s just great because we are a self-funded enterprise and if we don’t get donations we can’t do these sorts of things, so we rely on that,” she said.

“To have it all up and running, it was so dead before so we can’t thank him enough.

“We like to keep our centre looking first-class and with Mick’s help now it is.”
