A supportive program designed for women who have had breast cancer is about to begin.

YWCA Encore is a free land and water based exercise program with the aim to connect women with services resources after treatment.

Bunbury Encore facilitator Leah Bolwell said the program was about focusing on success, wellness and moving on after treatment.

“You don’t need to be able to be able to be swim, it’s primarily standing exercises with a lot of fun and a lot of laughter,” she said.

“A lot of the program is about people who have had a similar journey meeting up and being able to support each other through their shared difficulties and successes.

Ms Bolwell became a facilitator in 2015 after losing two close friends to breast cancer and said it was really nice to be able to help women with their journey of moving on and coping with whatever was thrown at them.

The eight-week program is run at St John of God Bunbury Hospital and begins on February 16. For more information contact 9440 3501.
