The City of Bunbury and Aqwest have teamed up to help community members become ‘water wise’.
A new campaign will see stickers placed on every public toilet in Bunbury, urging the public to report leaking taps and issues with toilet blocks to the City.
Stickers have also been given to schools across the district, encouraging students to report issues with toilet amenities to staff.
The stickers feature positive messages encouraging people to keep an eye out.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan noted the campaign’s long-term benefits for the environment and community.
“From the City point of view, we really encourage people – if they see leaking taps and showers, particularly within public areas – to let council staff know about it so we can get on with it, stop the leak, and save water,” he said.
Aqwest chairperson Stan Liaros said the public were instrumental in helping to monitor the region’s water usage.
The City of Bunbury’s water is taken from the Yarragadee Aquifer.
