For one Bunbury girl, a new years resolution and an Instagram ad could potentially end up being life changing.
Molly Lewis recently found out she had made it the Top 50 for the 2018 Miss West Coast, which is part of Miss Universe Australia 2018.
The 21-year-old was the only Bunbury beauty to be chosen and said she was proud to be representing her home town.
“The ad kept coming up on Instagram so I took a stab in the dark, it was a new years resolution to get out of my comfort zone, so I applied,” she said.
“There was a bit of a process, I had to send through a few photos and there was an application video, then I got the phone call that I got in, so it started from there and it has been all go since.
“It was crazy, I did not for a second think I would get in.”
Describing herself as an introvert, Miss Lewis had no prior modelling experience and said it had been crazy ever since receiving the phone call.
“I had never even used my Instagram account before I applied,” she said.
"I’m going up to Perth two to three times a week for workshops and then we have the heats and they start on March 10.
"I’m so nervous but excited, it will be so fun – the girls are all so amazing in the program they are such a great group of girls.”
“I’m a bit of an introvert to be honest, this is so out of my comfort zone – I’m just trying to push myself and get through it all but it can be quite intimidating.
Miss Lewis will compete in the first round of heats where she hopes to make it through to the top 25 and then on to the top 5.
“We’re in the Miss West Coast program and the other states have already got their top five – it’s more or less just someone confident who can represent what they do and stand for everything they stand for, has good morals and self respect and be a role model,” she said.
“I would be so gobsmacked if I got through, it would be so exciting because there is so much more to come if you do get through, so many more exciting programs – it would be an amazing adventure.
“I’m not quite ready for it to be over yet, it’s been so fun so far.
“I’m just taking it as it comes.”
