The South Bunbury Football Club was excited to receive a digital scoreboard on Friday, March 2, as a community gift from Optus.
Optus chief executive Allen Lew visited the club, toured facilities and was presented with his own jersey at Hands Oval.
“Optus is more than just a telecommunications provider; we aim to be part of the local community as well and we champion sport by bringing it to Australians on our superior network,” he said.
“Optus has donated this digital scoreboard to Bunbury’s sporting community to give spectators a superior fan-experience when watching their local teams play here at Hands Oval.”
South Bunbury Football Club vice president Leigh Wright said the digital display board was a magnificent contribution and thanked Mr Lew for the gesture.
“One Hundred and twenty years this club has been in existence and for all of that time we’ve had people in the rain, in the sun, baring the elements,” he said.
“We’ve got a new dimension now where we can have the computer technology and somebody within the stands being able to monitor and put the score up.”
Mr Wright said the new scoreboard would allow them to display the fixtures and upcoming events as well as the score.
